Barn Cat Adoption Progam

BCAS has cats from time to time that would prefer to be released outside to reside in a barn or other type of outdoor building with the ability to come and go as they please.  These cats are mostly feral and do not seek human attention.  Feral cats can provide great rodent control for your outdoor spaces.  These cats need areas away from high-traffic streets and protected from predators.

OUR BARN CATS ARE:

  • Already Spayed/Neutered
  • Vaccinated
  • No Adoption Fees (donations appreciated)
  • Does Require an Approved Application

Read below for more information about how it works.

How it works:

Fill out a quick and simple barn cat application.

The first step is filling out an appplication and getting approved. Once approved you will be placed on our waiting list to be notified when we have barn cats available.

BCAS will reach out when cats are available.

BCAS traps and removes cats from over populated areas or areas where cats have been dumped. Cats will become available once they have been fully vetted, healed and ready to be released.

You will need to provide temporary containment.

BCAS recommends containing your new cats in a crate with a litter box, food and water for 3-4 days until they understand their new environment. This will help ensure they stick around, feel safe and offer their duties for rodent prevention.  Cats can be released after a few days to roam as they please but they do require regular feeding, fresh water and monitoring to stay active and healthy.

BCAS will have barn cats available as soon as the weather is warmer and it is safe to trap. Get on our waiting list now.

Please note that BCAS does not adopt out cats/kittens as barn cats if they are suitable to be household companions.

Why Adopt Barn Cats?

There are many reasons to give feral cats a home on your property.  The biggest reason is to reduce the number of cats euthanized at high kill shelters and to also free up space and funds at no kill shelters so they can help other cats. Feral cats are also great at keeping rodents at bay.  They can provide safe control with no poisons needed and they will do it in return for a safe environment, food, water and space.  These cats can live independently without much fuss.  Some feral cats can become domesticated pets depending on how much interaction the adopter wants to have with these animals.  Fill out an application today and open up your property and your hearts to our feral felines.
